Inspired by “Supra”, the Georgian tradition of gathering around a feast table and participating in folk songs, music, and dance, the Table Songs Festival showcased four cultures’ different ways of celebrating life.

Onefourfive (Seattle) – Georgian tradition
To headline the event and celebrate the inspiration for this event, we welcomed the Georgian polyphonic singing group “onefourfive”. They demonstrated Georgian folk dancing, truly one of the most spectacular dance traditions in the world:

Salash Tamburica (Vancouver) – Presenting tamburica string band music from the taverns of northern Serbia!
Princeton Porch Party (Princeton) – English tradition
Jon Bartlett and Rika Ruebsaat led an ensemble of singers and musicians from across the pacific northwest to showcase English sea shanties, pub songs, and other traditional genres.

Forrás Banda (Vancouver/Seattle) – Hungarian Tradition
Peasant folk music from Hungary and Transylvania played on violins, violas, double-bass and cimbalom. Guest dancers and singers joined Forrás Banda in traditional “Asztali Nóták” (table songs). http://www.ForrasBanda.com
